Your 5-Day Mount Kenya Trek Safari begins with an early morning pickup from your hotel or airport in Nairobi before departing north toward Mount Kenya National Park. The scenic drive passes through central Kenya’s fertile agricultural highlands, coffee farms, and views of Kenya’s rural countryside as you make your way toward the Sirimon Gate entrance.
After registration and briefing with your trekking crew, begin your first ascent through bamboo forest, giant heather vegetation, and open moorlands while gradually acclimatizing to altitude. The trek is moderate and offers beautiful mountain scenery before arriving at Old Moses Camp where you settle in, enjoy dinner, and prepare for the next stage of your climb.

After an early breakfast, continue trekking higher into the mountain ecosystem as the vegetation gradually changes from moorland into dramatic alpine terrain. The trail offers stunning panoramic views of surrounding valleys, rocky ridges, and unique high-altitude plant species found only on Mount Kenya.
As altitude increases, the pace slows to allow proper acclimatization while crossing the scenic Mackinder Valley. Along the route, watch for mountain wildlife including hyraxes, sunbirds, and occasional antelope species. Arrive at Shipton’s Camp in the afternoon where you rest, hydrate, and prepare physically for tomorrow’s summit attempt.

Reach Point Lenana at sunrise where breathtaking panoramic views reveal Mount Kenya’s dramatic peaks, glaciers, distant valleys, and — on clear mornings — views stretching toward Mount Kilimanjaro.
